【摘要】:1Thisguideoutlinesdosimetricprocedurestobefol-lowedfortheradiationsterilizationofliveinsectsforuseinpestmanagementprograms.Theprimaryuseofirradiated,reproductivelysterileinsectsisintheSterileInsectTechnique,wherelargenumbersofsterileinsectsarereleasedintothefieldtomatewithandthuscontrolpestpopulationsofthesamespecies.Asecondaryuseofsterileinsectsisasbenignhostsforrearinginsectparasitoids.Theproceduresoutlinedinthisguidewillhelpensurethatinsectsprocessedwithionizingradiationfromgamma,electron,orX-raysourcesreceiveabsorbeddoseswithinapredeterminedrange.Informationoneffectivedoserangesforspecificapplicationsofinsectsterilization,oronmethodologyfordeterminingeffectivedoseranges,isnotwithinthescopeofthisguide.Note1—Dosimelryisonlyonecomponentofatotalqualitycontrolprogramtoensurethatirradiatedinsectsarcadequatelysterilizedandsufficientlycompetitiveorotherwisesuitablefortheirintendedpurpose.2Thisguidecoversdosimetryintheirradiationofinsectsforthesetypesofirradiators:self-containeddry-storageCsorCoirradiators,large-scalegammairradiators,andelectronaccelerators.Additional,detailedinformationondosimetricprocedurestobefollowedininstallationqualification,opera-tionalqualification,performancequalification,androutineproductprocessingcanbefoundinISO/ASTMPractices51608(X-ray[bremsstrahlung]facilities),51649(electronbeamfacilities),51702(large-scalegammafacilities),andASTMPracticeE2116(self-containeddry-storagegammafacilities).3Theabsorbeddoseforinsectsterilizationistypicallywithintherangeof20Gyto600Gy.4Thisguiderefers,throughoutthetext,specificallytoreproductivesterilizationofinsects.Itisequallyapplicabletoradiationsterilizationofinvertebratesfromothertaxa(forexample,Acarina,Gastropoda)andtoirradiationofliveinsectsorotherinvertebratesforotherpurposes(forexample,induc-ingmutations),providedtheabsorbeddoseiswithintherangespecifiedin1.3.5Thisguidealsocoverstheuseofradiation-sensitiveindicatorsforthevisualandqualitativeindicationthattheinsectshavebeenirradiated.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany.associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappro-priatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplica-bilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
